CR Assessment and Program Review

Assessment Team Mission

The CR Outcomes Assessment Team, with representatives from the academic and student services divisions, supported by Institutional Research, recommends, facilitates and supports policies, processes and practices used by the College for assessing program and student learning. The Team is a resource for faculty and staff who undertake assessment initiatives and a clearinghouse and reporting agent for college-wide data on academic achievement. In collaboration with academic and student services divisions, assessment methodologies are developed and specific requirements of content, form and timing are established to measure program and student learning. Assessment data will be used to inform and implement changes leading to improved student learning.

Outcomes Assessment Team Initial Charge:

  • to become familiar with current trends in outcomes assessment on a national level;
  • to determine the state of outcomes assessment in the College;
  • to determine how assessment results are used for program refinement for student learning improvement;
  • to develop common institutional assessment language for instructional and non-instructional areas;
  • to develop assessment methodologies to measure program and student learning
  • to provide support and guidance for instructional and non-instructional programs to identify, publish, and assess program and student outcomes and build assessment plans;
  • to implement an institutional methodology to collect and document program and student assessment

The long term goal of the Assessment Team is to ensure that:

  • Student learning outcomes and assessment are ongoing, systematic and used for continuous quality improvement;
  • Dialogue about student learning is ongoing;
  • Student learning improvement is a visible priority in all practices and structures across the college;
  • Learning outcomes are specifically linked to program reviews.
