In the section on Early High School Collaboration, there is an assertion that "early college high school is diverting ADA funding and that higher caliber students from other districts are transferring to FSC to participate in the program." Then there is a section called Implications, which suggests that we'll stop doing this practice. Let's be clear here. Area superintendents from Arcata and Eureka (most probably) wrote to Dr. Marsee complaining about the fact that AR has the best scores in the county. However, let's look at the facts. AR was offered to both these districts, and they turned it down. The letter was sour grapes. No one at CR or at AR wants to recruit the kind of students that the Implications section refers to. Instead of responding in this way, the administration should have gone through the Liaison Group for AR, and left it for them to respond. Instead, the Administration has completely left the Liaison Group and the AR administration on the sidelines. Does the administration really have any purview in this area? The answer is a clear no. Cut all references to area superintendents or what they think. AR is doing just fine, and it should be left alone to do its job. |
